Coraopolis, Pa. - Junior Brendan Madden's one-over par 73 paced Duquesne in Monday's opener at Robert Morris's Holiday Inn Pittsburgh Airport Colonial Classic at Montour Heights Country Club. This is becoming a familiar role for Madden who led Duquesne's quintet in their previous competition at St. Bonaventure.
The Dukes are tied with Niagara University for eighth place in the 11-team event. Senior Michael Edwards' and junior Brian Sidone's rounds of 79 put each in a tie for 28th among the 59 players who challenged the course. The 6,632-yard, par 72 layout at Montour held the field to an average score of 79.59.
This annual event, now in its 13th year, completes play on Tuesday.
