Red and Blue End Season with Loss at Dayton

Nov. 14, 2007

Box Score

Duquesne's men's soccer team wrapped its 2007 season with a 6-1 loss at Dayton on Sunday. The Red and Blue scored first on a third minute goal by senior Travis MacKenzie, but a couple of penalty shots and playing a man short, sealed the Dukes' fate.

MacKenzie opened the scoring with a header off assists from sophomore Alex Trujillo and junior Evan Browne. However, penalty shot goals by Dayton in the 23rd and 39th minute along with a red card to sophomore Kevin Foglesong in the 39th minute thwarted DU's chances.

The Dukes, playing shorthanded the rest of the way, were not able to surmount a comeback.

The Red and Blue finished the season at 5-11-3 with a 3-6-0 Atlantic 10 record and missed qualifying for the Atlantic 10 Championship for the first time since 2001.
