Little Named Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year

PITTSBURGH - Less than 48 hours after being named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week, Kristi Little (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) has been named A-10 Defensive Player of the Year as well as being named to the third-team All-Conference and All-Defensive teams.

She becomes the first-ever Defensive Player of the Year in the history of the women's basketball program.

Little finished the 2007-08 regular season leading the conference in steals with 3.24 steals per game, which ranks 12th nationally as well as being second in the A-10 with 6.0 assists per game and fourth in scoring averaging 16.5 ppg.

Little, whose career scoring average was 8.7 ppg coming into the season, helped Duquesne finish second in the league in points per game (67.8) after finishing 13th last season.

The Dukes, seeded ninth, will take on Richmond in the first round of the 2008 Atlantic 10 Championship Friday at 12:00 p.m.
