MONROEVILLE - The Duquesne women's tennis team ended a three-game slide with a 7-0 shutout of George Mason Sunday afternoon.

The Dukes has no problem taking the double point as they swept all three matches yielding only four total games. Johanna Bezjak and Rachel McGowan defeated Lindsay Gray and Stacey Berlinger, 8-3 at first doubles Zena Williams and Rebecca Poole defeated Julia Moscato and Alicia Van Zandt, 8-1 at No. 2 and Alexandria Albano and Andrea Sailer defeated Sarah Dieffenbach and Meredith Cutchin 8-0

In singles, DU only dropped 14 total games. At No. 1 singles, Zena Williams recorded her 18th win of the season after a 6-1, 6-4 win over GMU's Lindsay Gray. Johanna Bezjak easily disposed of Stacey Berlinger, 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 2 position.

In the No. 3 slot, Rachel McGowan defeated Julia Moscato, 6-1, 6-0. Rebecca Poole won her 10th match of the year after she defeated Aryn Christman, 6-0, 6-2 at No. 4.

Andrea Sailer trailed 2-3 in the first set before the Patriot's Meredith Cutchin, 2-3 rolled her ankle and was forced to retired at No. 5. At No. 6. singles, Kristen Swenson defeated Alicia Van Zandt, 6-2, 6-1.
 

 

The win gives the Dukes a 4-3 record two weeks before their conference opener against George Washington on Mar. 7.
