Dukes Return to Akron for Roo Town Open

AKRON - The Duquesne women's track team returned to Akron, Ohio this weekend for the Roo Town Open. Samantha Howard had the Dukes' best finish as she crossed second in the mile with a time of 5:05.33. Howard also had a strong showing in the 800 meter run taking fourth place, just two seconds off the lead and three places ahead of Charlene Garth who crossed seventh overall with a time of 2:22.92.

In the jumps, Christine Swanson's distance of 33-6.75 in the triple jump was good for second place and Amanda Collins placed sixth in the high jump (5-0.50). Sarah Cappo followed Collins finished eighth with a jump of 4-9.75. Sierra Larsuel finished seventh in the long jump with a distance of 17-3.25 and Christine Swanson was second in the triple jump with a distance of 33-6.75.

Next up for the Dukes are the 2008 Atlantic 10 Championships Feb. 16 in Kingston, R.I.
